What is ED glass?
Some of Osprey Global's newest rifle scopes and optics have what is called ED glass and many customers have wondered what exactly is it?
ED stands for Extra Low Dispersion and is one of the many factors that will result in increased clarity inside of a scope, pair of binoculars, spotting scope or any other product that uses magnified optics.
ED glass reduces chromatic aberration by up to 50% which reduces the amount of "leakage" or blurriness of different colors as they are seen through the scope.
ED glass contains rare earth compounds and are thus more expensive to manufacture. That is one reason why Osprey Global reserves this type of glass for our top of the line Elite series scopes and optics.
ED glass also increases clarity during low lighting conditions such as at dawn and dusk, resulting in an unparalleled lighting experience.
Currently Osprey Global provides two rifle scopes that contain ED Glass. These are:
ED Glass 2.5-20x50 FFP USA Scope
ED Glass 7-35x56 FFP USA Scope
Stay tuned for more USA products from Osprey Global and thanks for visiting Rocky Mountain Optics!
